Overwhelming support for World Oceans Day
A sunny day coupled with the Farmers market, brought the crowds into Shoreham on Saturday 12th June. They also flocked into the marquee on Coronation Green for the World Oceans Day event http://www.worldoceansday.org/ at which FoSB had a stand. The litter and strand line quizzes provided some with a challenge whilst the children’s activity table proved very popular.
The children decorated fish and drew sea and sand scapes around a table piled with glue, tissue paper, pens, pencils and tons of glitter. Julia Fowles and Joy Daintree had spent the previous week cutting out 90 fish outlines for the children to decorate. These had been used by lunchtime and afternoon supporters were speedily enrolled to cut out more! All were covered in glitter by the end of the day.
Whilst the children worked, parents chatted about the beach and the work of FoSB and new members enrolled , others left their email addresses to be contacted later.
Andy Horton’s live tanks , crab and lobster viewing and Steve Savage’ s microscopic Worlds also proved great attractions. Thanks go to all the helpers who set up and manned the stands and work tables and to the visitors who spent time with us and were so interested in our work.
See you at the rock pooling August!
