Could you be our new Chair? Volunteer opportunity with Friends of Shoreham Beach local nature reserve
Friends of Shoreham Beach LNR are looking for an enthusiastic person with a keen interest in wildlife to take on the role of its chair. The chair is a volunteer position and has mainly administrative duties with the support of a dedicated hard-working committee including our botanical expert as well as a representative for the Council and a worker in the field of conservation.
The applicant would need to be able to Chair committee meetings and the annual general meeting and ensure FoSB complies with its constitution and relevant legal requirements e.g., GDPR, safeguarding. He or she will also need to keep in touch with committee members between meetings and ensure they have the support they need to carry out their role and address any issues and represent FoSB in meetings with local conservationists and officials.
Expected time commitment around half a day per week but there is potential to give more to progress the vital role FoSB plays in protecting our precious LNR, plus attendance at about 6 committee meetings a year and the AGM. He or she will be supported by the current committee members and needs to live locally but not necessarily on Shoreham Beach and have a genuine interest in our work and the importance of biodiversity.
